Thutak Nunpuitu Team (TNT), founded by Dr. Sangthankima on 14th Nov, 1988 at Champhai, has been dedicated to charity work focusing on drug rehabilitation and mental health support.
Dr. Sangthankima was born the third of nine children to Mr. Lalruma Sailo and Mrs. Lianmawii on 18th October 1960 at Tlangsam. He stands tall at 6.2ft and has completed the Vth Standard. From a young age, despite facing numerous hardships, he was determined to confront any challenge that came his way.
As he approached the age of twenty, deeply troubled by his past sinful deeds and worldly desires, he experienced a profound transformation and became a staunch follower of Christ. Committed to his mission of charity work, he devoted his life to saving those who are both physically and spiritually needy. His passion for helping others, particularly through drug rehabilitation and mental health support, became the foremost priority in his life, often overshadowing his responsibilities towards his wife and children. In his relentless pursuit to save lost souls, he even neglected his own health.
1. Those who are born physically and mentally sound but fall into drug abuse or engage in unhealthy behaviors are often shunned by society, including religious individuals. However, through charity work and drug rehabilitation, there is hope for redemption. He believed that even these individuals—robbers, murderers, wanderers—could find salvation and support through the love of Christ and mental health support.
2. Those who are physically handicapped, have mental health challenges, or are homeless wanderers who sometimes eat from public trash bins are our fellow human beings deserving of compassion. He felt a strong obligation to engage in charity work by feeding, bathing, and caring for them with love. He emphasized that their needs must be prioritized over our own, much like the importance of providing drug rehabilitation and mental health support to those in need.
3. Has the decline in the fear of God contributed to our societal failures, or is it the other way around? Is it the encouragement of sexual acts or our culturally corrupted nature that has led to the abandonment of minor children and the tragic incidents of newborn infants being discarded into drains? He emphasized the importance of engaging in charity work, advocating for mental health support, and providing drug rehabilitation for those in need. By offering proper care and guidance, we can help the hopeless, the deceived, and the torn become responsible citizens.
He started this mission on the outskirts of Champhai District, dedicating his time to charity work that focuses on drug rehabilitation and mental health support for the area's most vulnerable individuals. He labors day and night to meet the needs of these helpless people, and he began teaching a small group earnestly to guide them onto the right path.
His efforts became so successful and popular that many individuals were drawn to his service for the downtrodden. Aspiring volunteers from various places joined him to co-serve in his mission without any wages. As the team grew larger, those who found hope through the Word continued to work in the same location. Together, the patients and the workers share the charity provided by generous donors.
As the number of patients increased within the ministry, it became necessary to create three distinc
a) A drug rehabilitation centre, part of our charity work, where drug abusers, alcoholics, and delinquents receive support and treatment.
b) Pangpar Huan, which offers essential mental health support for individuals with mental disabilities.
c) A Child Care Institution dedicated to the care of orphans and children in need, ensuring they receive the support they deserve.

They are given proper guidance based on the Holy Words of God, which is why this organization is named the 'Thutak Nunpuitu Team' (The Team that Lives the Truth).
Works and achievements of TNT
The de-addiction center operates like a therapeutic community, where dedicated workers are sacrificing their lives to provide drug rehabilitation and mental health support for those struggling with addiction. Their efforts aim to help drug abusers, alcoholics, and other individuals transform into valuable citizens for God and the country by establishing proper rules and regulations for everyone involved.
To date, around 15,000 individuals have repented and left their past unworthy lives behind. Among these, 460 volunteers have stepped forward to help others facing similar challenges. The total number of inmates at the center is 29,000, with 938 still receiving support.
At Pangpar Huan, differently abled patients are provided with proper food and showers at the right time, ensuring their dignity and care. They receive training to become helpful and self-sufficient in various areas, including sports. TNT has supported 8,600 individuals with mental health issues, and each year, 20-40 patients recover and are able to lead normal lives. Notably, around 200 members have volunteered to contribute to our charity work here, and currently, there are 421 patients receiving care within this group.
At the Child Care Centre, every child under five has their own dedicated caretaker. Once they turn five, they transition to the Nursery section to begin their schooling. By the age of ten, they participate in various training programs, including craft skills. To date, we have registered 780 homeless orphans.
In sports, our achievements are commendable, boasting good records in Judo, Volleyball, and Weightlifting with 56 national-level medals, over 720 state-level medals, and various trophies. We also have a Cultural Club and Pipe Band (Baja) that are frequently invited to important government functions.
Each group of patients is led by its own Leader and Secretary, efficiently administered under the Chairmanship of the Founder, Dr. Sangthankima. In addition to our headquarters in Aizawl, TNT extends its reach with branches in three significant districts of Mizoram: Calvary Home at Khuangpuilam, Kolasib; Lunglei Home at Theiriat, Lunglei; Mazuia Memorial Home at College Veng, Champhai; and Tahan Centre at Varpui, Tahan, Myanmar.
Across all these centers, we have registered a total of 5,630 patients, of which 1,350 individuals have been saved through effective drug rehabilitation efforts to start new lives. Many of these individuals have chosen to continue their journey by volunteering to work here, contributing to our ongoing mental health support initiatives.
